Not only are individual professionals struggling to decide which training type is best for them, but also many organizations. While most teams prefer instructor-led training, many others choose to evaluate self-paced training options. Let’s compare these two options!
1. Self-Paced Learning is any type of education that can be done at the learner’s pace. Self-paced learning allows students to access the resources and tools they need to learn at their own pace and decide their learning style and emphasis. This is a significant difference from traditional instructor-led learning. Self-paced learning includes synchronous learning. There are many types of self-paced learning methods, such as:
eLearning: These are short, learner-driven courses that can be accessed entirely via a computer or mobile device.
Job Aids: A document that is either short or long, or a reference manual.
Pre-Learning: This is the best way to learn if you’re going to take a training course. It can be described as learning before learning.
Recorded webinars: These are recorded sessions of the webinars, classes or webinars that were held in real time.
Videos: It is unnecessary to define videos. These are recordings of knowledge sharing that are made available online to users for learning.
2. Instructor-Led training: ILT, or Instructor-Led Learning, is a traditional method of learning that has been used for generations. This is a method where a learner enrolls into a class where an instructor will guide them through a combination lecture and practical coursework in real time. The class can be virtual or real. ILT is a social learning system that combines a strong social component with collaborative learning.
Why Instructor-Led Training is Better than Self-Paced Learning for Azure? Although it is flexible, it does have its limitations. Azure self-paced learning has its cons:
The biggest disadvantage to self-paced learning courses is student commitment. Azure requires your time and commitment. This technique is largely dependent on the student being held accountable for completing the course. Students can easily quit the course and not complete the training because of the time commitment and low money.
Another disadvantage to self-paced learning in Azure is the lack of personalized instruction. If you are having difficulty understanding a topic, there isn’t much help available outside of the resources already provided. Although your learning provider may be able to connect you with Azure experts or other students, you will need to wait for responses.
